Full Frame vs Crop Sensor - Wildlife Photography

In this video I assess the raw images from a Full Frame (Canon 5D Mark III) and a Crop Sensor (Canon 7D Mark II) in a wildlife scene. The bird (bee-eater) is shot from the same distance with the two bodies fitted with Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM + Canon Extender EF 1.4X III. The assessment in the video below is made on .raw files.

Below are the final .jpg. I've applied the same editing flow in Photoshop for both images:

Canon 7D Mark II (400mm x 1.4 x 1.6 = 896mm)
Canon 7D Mark II (400mm x 1.4 x 1.6 = 896mm)

Canon 5D Mark III (400mm x 1.4 = 560mm)
The verdict: The 5D Mark III images are in general a little bit sharper, but it is hardly noticeable on the resized images (as you can convince yourself).
